THE LIFECYCLE OF AN EXTREME DIETER- who can relate? I know I can! Been there, done that...and let me tell you it was hell and it didn't even get me close to my ideal body! So glad I've seen the light! Here is a great infographic on this by @syattfitness - 🏏This right here is *exactly* why I don't like the "extremist" mindset in dieting or working out or anything fitness related. - 🍩Because it always starts strong. It kicks off with a massive surge of motivation and relentless workouts and insanely strict nutrition. And, obviously, results come fast. But this creates an issue. Because now you think "this is what I need to do to succeed." And when the time comes where you want to all of a sudden feel like a massive failure. - 🐣Then, not only do you feel like a failure...but you can't stop eating more and indulging more because you just spent so long depriving yourself. Not to mention, you keep digging yourself deeper into the "failure mindset" because you're having trouble controlling yourself and feel like it's a lost cause since you already "screwed up." Which often leads to you saying "fuck it, I quit." - 🌵Listen, dieting and working out doesn't have to be all or nothing. It's not all-in or all-out. It's not 7 days/week or nothing at all. It's not perfect or failure. - 🦄There's a continuum. And the continuum rides on consistency NOT rigidity. I hate talking about the "80/20 rule" because it's so damn overused but it's true. You don't need to be perfect. In fact...research shows people who never give themselves any leeway are LESS likely to succeed. Hence this lifecycle chart. - 🍪Cut yourself some slack. Work hard. Be patient. Never give up. And don't ever think, "I failed, might as well give up."
